Research Economist (Delhi-NCR)

Job Description

Project Guru is a research and writing firm based in Gurgaon since 2010. We are looking for a Research Economist with specialisation in International Economics, trade and macroeconomics.

The job would involve:

• Creating, as well as using, various econometric modelling techniques to develop forecasts.


• Assessing current economic policies of different countries; testing their effectiveness by applying tests to analyse the data, and providing recommendation on allocation of resources


• Predicting the outcome of economic pacts, trade agreements/ sanctions, investment deals between two countries, and its effects on a third country.


• Assessing the importance and impact of government’s budget allocation towards various causes.


• Assigning writing tasks to subordinates and evaluating their performance on a daily basis.


• Writing various technical and non-technical reports on economic trends and forecasts to inform the press and public; up to 2000 words a day.


• Delivering numerous oral and visual presentations, which non-economist audiences must be able to understand thoroughly in order to inform decisions


• Good knowledge of statistical application and tools like STATA, SPSS, and E-Views.


• Understanding of Research Methodology: research philosophy, types of data, how to design questionnaires and surveys, interpreting the data.

We are looking for candidates who:

• Specialize in international economics and trade policies.


• Have deep understanding of types of economies.


• Have strong analytical skills and an excellent understanding of implementation issues and the political economy of reforms.


• Have strong education-specific skills, complemented by a solid foundation in economics.


• Have experience in recommending practical policy reforms to improve education outcomes and in conceptualizing and implementing monitoring and evaluation of public programs.


• An open mind and an interest and willingness in working with other sector specialists, as well as macroeconomists, are two highly-valued characteristics.


• Are not afraid to voice their opinion on any country’s economic matters on a public platform.
